چکیده

As demands for energy savings have increased in recent years, inverters are being used in a wider range of applications. Demands for lower cost, smaller size and higher efficiency will continue to further expand the range of inverter applications. However, as a trend toward eco-friendly products increases, some sort of measure is necessary to suppress the harmonics contained in the inverter input current. Fuji Electric is developing a matrix converter capable of converting a input voltage directly into an arbitrary AC voltage, instead of converting that voltage into a DC voltage as inverters. This matrix converter has higher efficiency, smaller size, longer lifespan and fewer input current harmonics than inverters and has high potential for realizing the abovementioned demands. This paper presents Fuji Electric’s matrix converter and the new technologies that enable its practical application.

A New DPC-SVM for Matrix Converter Used in Wind Energy Conversion System Based on Multiphase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator

This paper proposes a novel wind energy conversion system based on a Five-phase Permanent Magnetic Synchronous Generator (5-PMSG) and a Five to three Matrix Converter (5-3MC). The low cost and volume and also eliminating grid side converter controller are attractive aspects of the proposed topology compared to the conventional with back-to-back converters. The control of active and reactive pow...

An Interleaved Configuration of Modified KY Converter with High Conversion Ratio for Renewable Energy Applications; Design, Analysis and Implementation

In this paper, a new high efficiency, high step-up, non-isolated, interleaved DC-DC converter for renewable energy applications is presented. In the suggested topology, two modified step-up KY converters are interleaved to obtain a high conversion ratio without the use of coupled inductors. In comparison with the conventional interleaved DC-DC converters such as boost, buck-boost, SEPIC, ZETA a...

Performance analysis of wind turbine-driven permanent magnet generator with matrix converter

Wind energy, among all of the renewable energy sources, has made rapid developments and significant inroads in electrical power systems. With the increased use of wind energy conversion systems (WECSs), several technologies have been developed. Since WECSs are more cost competitive, the comparison of different wind generator systems is the need of the hour. Permanent magnet generators employing...

Mitigation of operational losses in matrix converter fed DFIG for WECS

With the change in the wind profile, the speed of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) of wind energy conversion system (WECS) changes from super synchronous to sub synchronous range and vice versa. DFIG is operated to generate quality power; hence, power at rotor side is controlled using matrix converter taking power from grid and feeding back power to the grid depending on the wind profile. ...
